FAQ

How do I make an appointment/register with the practice?
It’s really easy to make an appointment, simply call our friendly reception team!
If you are a new patient they will take a few details from you; if you are an existing patient we will ask you to confirm your date of birth in order to locate your record.
You can also email us to request an appointment.
What can I expect at my dental visit?
You will be asked to complete a short medical history questionnaire that will assist the dental team. You will also be asked to sign an NHS form.
NHS regulations place an obligation on us to ask you to sign an NHS form every time you visit for a check up and to keep your medical history details up to date.
One of our team will then collect you from our reception are and show you to the surgery. You will be provided with a written plan of any treatment required and any associated NHS costs.
Once your appointment is complete you will complete your visit at reception where we will advise you of any forward appointments and costs due. We provide a complimentary text reminder for your appointments.
What about private options?
Private dentistry simply refers to providing options that are not available on the NHS. Private options have separate fees to the NHS options as the fees are not set by the government but by us. This reflects the different materials, time, expertise and type of treatment that is provided.
I am on benefits. What about free treatment?
When you complete a medical history questionnaire and sign an NHS dental form, this will ask about any support you receive in the form of a benefit. NHS dental treatment will be free if you receive the following benefits:
• Income Support
• Income-based Job Seekers Allowance
• Pension Credit guarantee Credit
• Income Related Employment Support Allowance
• NHS Tax Credit Exemption Certificate
• Universal Credit
This list is set by the government and so we have no control over which benefits are included.
How long will my appointment last?
This will vary depending on the type of visit you have. A dental exam can last 15 minutes, whilst more complex treatments will take longer. We will advise you of the length of your appointment.
I am scared of the dentist, what are my options?
Dental anxiety is common and should not stop you taking care of your oral health. We can perform treatments when you are relaxed using a simple injection.
Prices
All NHS prices are fixed by the government. These prices may also change when the government changes the prices for NHS dentistry. NHS dentistry is subsidised, which means our non-NHS prices will be higher. However this reflects treatment options that are not funded by the NHS, for example white fillings on certain teeth, life-like crowns and tooth whitening.
Payments
If you are required to contribute to your NHS dental costs, we will ask for this at the end of each visit. You can make payment in cash, cheque, with a debit or credit card or via PayPal.
My details have changed, what do I do?
Please simply send us an email or call us and we can update your records to reflect the changes.
Protecting your data
All your information remains confidential and we have data protection, confidentiality and privacy policies that set out how we look after your information. We only use the information that you give us to provide dental services to you.

If you are not happy with the service that you have received, please contact us either by telephone, email or letter. We have a complaints policy that sets out how we manage feedback and complaints.
